Trying to figure out which university or tech course is good for you or your teen?

Take a short class or two and discover a range of job roles in ICT and Engineering

ABOUT ME

MY WORK

PHILOSOPHY

I'm a self confessed geek. Top of the class with most things in High School but University and the world of Work turned out to be a real challenge. Fortunately the journey has given me lots of stories to tell. Like a rat in a maze you take many paths and figure out the rewarding ones.

Apart from trying to pay the rent I dabble in music, create gadgets and write.  My 3 daughters also keep me very busy and entertained.

Have a look at my online resume.

With the “day job” I make a decent living helping companies and government organizations adopt new tech or transition from older ones.

On evenings and weekends, when I’m not cleaning the house or playing with the dogs and cat, I like to help students with school work and finding a good fit for their strengths.

Along my own path I've made many friends and had mentors along the way but.. always wished there was a better road map out there.  So I decided to build one

Research has shown that the transition into post secondary education is one of the most bumpy in life.  I became interested in these transitions while teaching ICT and Engineering technologies. Alberta Education sponsored my study of tools to help High School students get exposure to multiple careers before making the costly decisions.  You can read about it here

What I discovered is:

  • There are good and bad influences

  • Better to try before you buy

  • Learning works best in small chunks
